On TV, you are larger than life but smaller, too. It is not the whole story, and it is not the whole me. This book is. Balancing her vivacious, outgoing personality with her desire to be taken seriously, she overcame every obstacle in her way: insecurity, an eating disorder, being typecast, sexism In every instance, she relentlessly pursued the facts, ruffling more than a few feathers along the way.
The death of her sister Emily, just three years later, brought yet more trauma - and an unwavering commitment to cancer awareness and research, one of her proudest accomplishments. Couric is unsparing in the details of her historic move to the anchor chair at the CBS Evening News - a world rife with sexism and misogyny. In the wake of the MeToo movement, Couric shares her clear-eyed reckoning with gender inequality and predatory behavior in the workplace, and downfall of Matt Lauer - a colleague she had trusted and respected for more than a decade.
Couric also talks about the challenge of finding love again, with all the hilarity, false-starts, and drama that search entailed, before finding her midlife Mr.

These are the people Katie Couric associated with!
Not everyone rubs shoulders with people Katie knew. So reading about her life is an honor to be apart of. I thoroughly enjoyed her Memories. It reminded me of all my history during those years and brought back events I'd forgotten. I enjoyed her candid retelling, her honesty, her sense of humor, her drive to be best journalist she could be, and her relationships with friends and family. I have always loved Katie and I love her even more now.
She is honest and bold. I love hearing the names that she is dropping What I loved most of all was hearing her relationships with her family especially her dad. She has had incredible success and more than her share of sadness.
She tackles all of the issues of our time and I think that she handles all of them well including her handling of the Me Too era. Katie Couric is a lightening rod.
Some people disagree with her, and some people agree. Some reviews I have read of this book call her names, which is beneath both Katie and whoever wrote them. This book tells the story of a woman that has been through traumatic experiences while trying to be America's sweetheart. I didn't watch the Today Show and was almost completely unaware of the author.
The painstaking detail in this book and the way it was narrated make it one of the best autobiographies I ever read. I think most people would like the small clips of events as they happened. You really get to know not only Katie, but her entire family. The traumatic experiences she went through take up about 20 percent of the book.
So if you are not into that kind of thing, I would recommend not reading it. The author decided to tell the truth as she sees it without fear or favor. As a journalist I think she did a good job. I would recommend this book to any person who likes to read memoirs and can be open minded while doing so. The book is perfectly narrated and tells a great story. My instinct about who she is - wrong. I connected with what I thought was her heart.
What I now have verified- listening to her voice- her self centered personality. Katy is a performer with self absorbed goals. I made a sad decision and worse— I exposed my daughter to your morning show for her first 10 years-. We are heartbroken and so dissolutioned. Damn it! I hate that we believed in Katie. I always enjoyed watching Katie Couric.
Funny, cute, seemingly someone who was real and relatable. This book is her telling her life story The first half of the book was really great. Katie giving a blow by blow of her upbringing, college days and then her ambitious and determined mindset to make it in the news business.
Then the meeting of her first husband Jay. Their courtship, marriage, kids and her big break with the Today all happening in the midst It seems obvious to me after reading the entire book that her union with Jay Monahan was what likely helped her get to a place where a Today Show opportunity would work out to be the career making opportunity it was. When her husband was diagnosed with cancer, i began to see who Katie Couric really was. Send-to-Kindle or Email Please login to your account first Need help?
